Larry Allen, hall of fame offensive linemen in the NFL has died suddenly at the age of 52.
According to the Dallas Cowboys organization, Allen passed away on Sunday while on vacation with his family in Mexico.
“Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL,” the Cowboys said Monday. “His versatility and dependability were also signature parts of his career. Through that, he continued to serve as inspiration for many other players, defining what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor and winner.”
Allen was inducted into the Pro Football of Hall of Fame in 2013, after spending the majority of his career with the Cowboys.
Allen entered the Hall of Fame about a year after his mother died, attributing his success to her presence in his life.
“I miss her,” Allen said. “Whenever I’d get nervous or had a big game and got nervous, I’d give her a call, and she’d start making me laugh.”
