Half of Young Americans Believe Israel Should be ‘Given to Hamas’

A Harvard-Harris poll found that 51% of Americans aged 18-24 believe Israel should be “ended and given to Hamas.”

The majority of Americans across all age demographics, however, support a two-state solution (60%).

Young respondents also reported that they believe “Hamas attackers on October 7th committed rapes and other crimes against women” (76%).

According to the poll, 81% of Americans stand with Israel over Hamas, although the youngest demographic is split 50/50.

Although 66% of those aged 18-24 said antisemitism is growing in the United States, 69% reported that discrimination against Muslims is also growing.

American Faith previously reported that a poll from the British group More in Common found that Gen Z is as likely to consider Hamas “freedom fighters” as they are to call them “terrorists.”

Twenty-four percent of Generation Z called Hamas “freedom fighters,” with another 24% calling Hamas “terrorists.”

Eleven percent of Gen Z participants considered Hamas to be “militants,” with another 35% unsure how to label Hamas.

“Of those who say they have attended a rally or protest relating to the conflict, 35 per cent say ‘freedom fighters’ is the best word to describe Hamas, compared to only 20 per cent who would use the word ‘terrorist,’” the poll said.
