Amid growing speculation about the 2024 Presidential election, California Governor Gavin Newsom voiced his support for President Biden’s re-election bid during an exclusive interview on Chuck Todd’s “Meet the Press” on NBC News.

Addressing concerns surrounding President Biden’s potential run, Newsom stated, “I think we need to move past this notion that he’s not going to run. President Biden is going to run and [is] looking forward to getting re-elected.”

Gov. Newsom also offered clarity on his own political ambitions, dismissing the idea that he might throw his hat into the ring.

He acknowledged Vice President Kamala Harris as a natural choice should the need arise.

“I think the vice president is naturally one lined up,” Newsom remarked, hinting at the traditional succession process.

Responding to Todd’s queries about private concerns from donors, Newsom stated firmly, “Time to move on. Let’s go.”

His comments suggest a need for party unity and focus on the upcoming election season.

When probed further about his comments on Vice President Harris, the governor emphasized the unity of the current administration.

“It’s the Biden-Harris administration,” he noted, drawing parallels with his own experience as a lieutenant governor. “Maybe I’m a little old-fashioned about presidents and vice presidents. I was a lieutenant governor, so I’m a little subjective.”

Gov. Newsom’s remarks underscore the Democratic Party’s push for continuity and unity as they gear up for the 2024 elections.
