Germany initiated random border checks with five Western European nations this week, including France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Denmark, as part of its crackdown on illegal immigration and crime.
These controls, initially scheduled for six months, expand upon existing checks at borders with Poland, Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
The move follows recent extremist attacks, including one by a Syrian asylum-seeker, and aims to bolster national security by preventing unlawful entry and maintaining border integrity amidst growing migration concerns in Europe.
Republican National Committee spokesperson Taylor Rogers responded to the news, saying that the world was “learning” what open borders do to a country.
“Like the United States under dangerously liberal Kamala, the world is learning that wide open borders mixed with soft-on-crime policies is a recipe for criminals and terrorists to unleash rampant and violent crime in our communities, Rogers said.
Germany reportedly blamed “irregular migration” as the reason for installing the new border controls.
