Lawyers for officials in Fulton County, Georgia, have filed a motion demanding the return of the 2020 files seized by the FBI.
The motion seeks the return of all files from the 2020 election that were confiscated by the FBI last week during the raid at our Fulton County Elections Hub,” said Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitt, as per FOX 5 Atlanta. “The motion also seeks the unsealing of the affidavit that was filed in support of the search warrant the FBI used to raid our warehouse.”
Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington said in a statement to USA Today that the filing “could not have come fast enough; justice delayed is justice denied. The people of Fulton County deserve justice now, and that’s why I pushed so hard to get this motion filed as soon as possible.” Arrington went on to claim that the seizure risks “sowing seeds of distrust in the election process.”
Last week, federal agents removed nearly 700 boxes containing ballots and materials linked to the 2020 election after obtaining a search warrant.
The warrant said the seized materials “constitutes evidence of the commission of a criminal offense” and had been “used as the means of committing a criminal offense,” ABC News reported.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was present at the raid, sparking backlash. She defended her presence, declaring in a letter that it was “requested by the President and executed under my broad statutory authority to coordinate, integrate and analyze intelligence related to election security, including counterintelligence, foreign and other malign influence and cybersecurity.”
