PARENTAL RESPONSE TO THE CHANGE:
- One New York father who has taken his children to Disney’s Florida location said he noticed the change: “I saw this [the change in title to ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’] and I think it’s absurd,” the father said.
- “Having a daughter who did the Bibbity Boppity Boutique where this is being implemented just further cements my thoughts that I can’t take my kids there anymore. They’ve gone full woke,” he added.
- The frustrated dad said it’s his opinion that Disney’s “footprint will be greatly reduced within a decade because of things like this.”
BACKGROUND:
- Last summer, the company began omitting any use of the phrase “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” from its parks, replacing it with the greeting, “Good evening, dreamers of all ages!”
- Commenters responded to Disney’s obvious and progressive change, calling it “completely unnecessary” and “overly sensitive.”
- Jack Wagner, who is known as “the voice of Disney” for his voice work with the parks, estimated that he has said the previous phrase over 8 million times during his two-decade tenure as park announcer for Disneyland, Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland.
