French Nun Knocks Down Climate Change ‘Activist’ Blocking Church Construction Site (Video)

A Catholic nun in France took down a climate change protester this week attempting to block construction on a new religious center.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Earlier this week, a French nun tackled an environmental “activist” attempting to disrupt the construction of a religious center in France.
  • Environmental activists from Les Amis de la Bourges (Friends of the Village) had gathered to protest the construction site in Saint-Pierre-de-Colombier where a new religious center was being built.
  • The protesters claimed the site had an “impact on the local ecosystem” and attempted to trespass onto the property, in an effort to physically stop the construction.
  • A nun present on site took down the protester, effectively removing him from the property.
  • “I didn’t expect that,” protestor Sylvain Herenguel said. “I expected the nuns to be a little reasonable for the public order. The problem is that the religious decided to resort to violence. I was attacked 3 times by five people, who snatched me, who wanted to throw me out. There, they decided to protect the site with their actions and their bodies.”
FRENCH CLIMATE ACTIVIST TAKEN DOWN BY FRENCH NUN ON “DEFENDING” AGRICULTURAL LAND:

“We want to defend agricultural land that could be used for future generations. We need to put things back on track and enforce environmental law,” the protester said.

BACKGROUND:
  • Last month, German climate activists sprayed orange paint onto Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate in order to push the German government to take action against climate change.
  • Members of the group “Last Generation” used fire extinguishers filled with paint to spray all six columns of the landmark in Germany’s capital.
  • The group wants Germany to stop using all fossil fuels by 2030 and impose a general speed limit on highways to cut emissions.
  • “The protest makes it clear: It is time for a political change,” the group said in a statement. “Away from fossil fuels – towards fairness.”
  • Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner condemned the group’s actions, saying their tactics go beyond legitimate forms of protest. “With these actions, this group is not only damaging the historic Brandenburg Gate, but also our free discourse about the important issues of our time and future,” he told German news agency dpa.
