Fox News Ratings Plunge 59% Post-Carlson Firing as Newsmax Surges

Following the dismissal of Tucker Carlson from Fox News on Monday, the network has experienced a significant decrease in ratings, particularly during the 8 pm ET prime-time slot, according to a report from Newsmax.

Tucker Carlson had been a ratings juggernaut for Fox News, attracting an average of 3.2 million viewers each night.

However, the ratings have taken a nosedive this week.

On Monday, 2.6 million viewers tuned in, followed by a further decline to 1.7 million on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, the viewership had plummeted to a mere 1.3 million, representing a staggering 59% drop from Carlson’s average ratings.

Fox News has yet to name a permanent replacement for the prime-time slot, opting to rotate popular figures like Brian Kilmeade in the meantime.

The network’s loss has proven to be a gain for Newsmax, which has seen its viewership skyrocket.

“Eric Bolling The Balance,” Newsmax’s 8 pm show, has experienced a 261% increase in average viewership, reaching 534,000 viewers.

While Newsmax is available in 24 million fewer cable homes than Fox News, its viewership figures are still impressive given its cable distribution.

According to Nielsen data, Newsmax drew 57% of Fox’s audience on a proportional basis on Wednesday at 8 pm.

SkyNews Australia, a sister company of Fox News, released an editorial on Wednesday criticizing the former host, stating that he was “sacked essentially for thinking that he was bigger than Fox News.”
