Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro to Serve as Interim US Attorney in DC

President Donald Trump has appointed Judge Jeanine Pirro as the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, filling the position as a key Senate confirmation deadline approaches. Pirro, a longtime Fox News personality, co-host on the hit show The Five, and former New York prosecutor, will officially depart the network to take on the high-profile legal role.

“I am pleased to announce that Judge Jeanine Pirro will be appointed interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia,” Trump posted Thursday on Truth Social. “Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York. She is in a class by herself. Congratulations Jeanine!”

Pirro’s legal background includes service as assistant district attorney and district attorney in Westchester County, where she broke ground as the first woman judge in the county court system. She joined Fox News in 2006 and hosted Justice with Judge Jeanine for 11 years before moving to The Five, cable news’ top-rated panel show.

Fox News acknowledged her departure with a statement: “Jeanine Pirro has been a wonderful addition to The Five over the last three years and a longtime beloved host across FOX News Media… We wish her all the best in her new role in Washington.”

Trump also announced Ed Martin will shift from interim U.S. attorney to serve as the DOJ’s “Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney.” Trump praised Martin’s transition, saying, “In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime.”

Explaining Martin’s withdrawal from the nomination, Trump said, “He wasn’t getting the support from people that I thought… But we have somebody else.”
