Florida Mom — Who Got Pregnant in Jail — Found Guilty of Murdering Father of Her Children

Florida mom Daisy Link, who made headlines for getting pregnant while behind bars, has been convicted of second-degree murder for killing the father of her children outside her Homestead home.

A Miami-Dade jury deliberated less than two hours before finding the 30-year-old guilty in the June 2022 shooting of Pedro Jimenez, her longtime partner and father of her two oldest kids. Surveillance video showed Link walking away after shooting Jimenez in the leg, mocking that she struck a “major artery.” He later bled to death.

During her trial, Link claimed she only intended to scare Jimenez. “That’s the father of my kids,” she testified. “It’s not like I didn’t love him, I did.” Prosecutors, however, argued the killing was intentional, with Assistant State Attorney Alex Bergida calling the pair’s relationship “toxic” and marked by mutual domestic violence.

Link’s defense attorney, Ayuban Thomas, portrayed Jimenez as the aggressor, telling jurors, “He wasn’t a good guy. He was a coke head, wife-beating lunatic.” Her 11-year-old son testified that he saw Jimenez attack his mother, saying, “He pointed the gun at my mom and he fired a shot but he missed. He was hitting her with the bottom of the gun.”

But jurors were not persuaded. “If he’s running away and she shot him in the back, doesn’t seem much like self-defense,” juror Kenan Bowie said after the verdict.

Link previously gained notoriety in 2023 after revealing she became pregnant in jail using semen smuggled from another inmate through a vent. She remains in custody awaiting sentencing.
