A major Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Florida has resulted in the arrest of nearly 800 illegal immigrants over just a few days. The large-scale action, dubbed “Operation Tidal Wave,” targeted individuals with serious criminal records and repeat immigration offenders.
Federal authorities focused the operation on Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Many of those arrested had prior convictions for violent crimes, including assault, robbery, sexual offenses, and drug trafficking. ICE officials reported that this targeted enforcement aims to protect American communities by removing dangerous individuals.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Director, Daniel Bible, emphasized that “Operation Tidal Wave” demonstrates the agency’s commitment to upholding immigration laws and public safety. Bible stated that criminal illegal aliens undermine the nation’s security and law-abiding citizens deserve protection.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has long called for stronger immigration enforcement, often citing the impact of illegal immigration on crime rates and state resources. State officials have pledged full cooperation with ICE to support federal efforts to deport individuals who pose threats to public safety.
Among those apprehended, several suspects had pending charges or convictions related to weapons violations, domestic violence, and gang activity. ICE confirmed that deportation proceedings are underway for those arrested, with some already transferred into federal custody for immediate removal.
This operation follows the Biden administration’s earlier restrictions on ICE activity, which critics say allowed criminal aliens to remain in U.S. communities. “Operation Tidal Wave” signals a renewed focus on prioritizing the removal of individuals who endanger American lives.
