Florida Allows Citizens to Conceal Carry Firearms Without Obtaining Permit

The state of Florida is now allowing American citizens to conceal carry a firearm without first obtaining a permit.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed the bill in April, which went into effect on July 1.

“Constitutional Carry is in the books,” DeSantis said at the time of signing.

Florida is now the 26th state to allow Americans to carry a firearm without a permit, although individuals must first pass a background check and a short waiting period for gun purchases.

“You don’t need a permission slip from the government to be able to exercise your Second Amendment rights,” DeSantis said during one of his 2024 campaign events.

Donald Trump also stated at a National Rifle Association (NRA) convention that he would sustain the right to bear arms.

“I promise you this – with me at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, no one will lay a finger on your firearms…I will uphold those glorious words: shall not be infringed,” Trump said.

Reporting from RSBN:

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down stringent gun control legislation in the state of New York which had previously required gun owners to “show ‘proper cause’ for carrying firearms outside their homes,” RSBN reported.

The precedent set by the highest court in the land seems to have encouraged a few red states to relax their gun control laws.
