A federal grand jury has indicted Jack Danaher Molloy, 24, a former Pittsburgh resident and dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, on charges of attempting to support Hezbollah, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), and making false statements regarding international terrorism.
Molloy, initially charged by criminal complaint in December 2024, was arrested in Chicago on December 6, 2024. After his arrest, he was transported to Pittsburgh by the U.S. Marshals Service on December 30, 2024.
The indictment alleges that Molloy sought to provide material support to Hezbollah, including personnel and services, fully aware of the group’s terrorist designation and its long history of targeting Americans and Western allies.
Court documents reveal that Molloy harbored deeply anti-Semitic views, as evidenced by inflammatory usernames such as “KIKEKILLER313” and offensive content found on his electronic devices. In a WhatsApp exchange with a family member, Molloy reportedly stated that his “master plan was to join Hezbollah and kill Jews.”
From August to December 2024, Molloy’s efforts to aid Hezbollah spanned multiple locations, including Lebanon, Syria, and Pennsylvania. In August 2024, he traveled to Lebanon intending to join Hezbollah but was reportedly told by contacts that “the time was not right” and that further steps were required.
Undeterred, Molloy traveled to Syria in October 2024, seeking to fight for Hezbollah in the region. After returning to the U.S., he continued his attempts to join the terrorist organization from his residence in Upper St. Clair, communicating with individuals online and abroad.
Hezbollah, formed after the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, has a long and violent history of targeting American military and diplomatic personnel, as well as conducting terrorist attacks against Israeli and Western interests. The group’s activities continue to pose a significant threat to global stability.
Molloy’s actions, as detailed in the indictment, highlight the persistent dangers posed by individuals seeking to align themselves with terrorist organizations. The case underscores the importance of vigilant law enforcement and counterterrorism efforts to protect American lives and interests from radical ideologies.
