Former Vice President Mike Pence has been ordered by a federal judge to appear in front of a grand jury investigating former President Donald J. Trump’s “attempts to overturn the 2020 election,” according to a report from The New York Times.
The rulings were handed down on Monday by Judge James E. Boasberg in Federal District Court in Washington.
The grand jury investigation is focused on Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Trump and his allies have made numerous claims of widespread voter fraud and filed a flurry of lawsuits seeking to overturn the results.
The investigations could potentially lead to the indictment of individuals for criminal offenses.
The rulings by Judge Boasberg suggest that prosecutors are seeking testimony from high-level officials in the Trump administration, and other senior officials may also be compelled to testify.
