The FBI arrested 21-year-old Seth “Andrea” Gregori in Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 24, 2025, for allegedly plotting a violent ambush on local police officers. Authorities say Gregori aimed to replicate the 2016 Dallas attack that left five officers dead. The arrest followed an extensive investigation, including informant reports and digital evidence, which led to swift law enforcement action.
Investigation and Arrest
The FBI launched an investigation after receiving a tip from a confidential informant who had been in contact with Gregori. The informant provided 71 pages of text messages, images, and conversations in which Gregori allegedly expressed a desire to kill law enforcement officers, specifically targeting white officers while sparing others. The messages also contained photos from the 2016 Dallas attack, along with surveillance images Gregori allegedly took of Corpus Christi police.
Gregori was taken into custody on charges of making terroristic threats and criminal trespassing. At the time of booking, law enforcement listed Gregori as male, though jail records later identified Gregori as female. The FBI has not commented on how gender identity played a role in the investigation.
Planned “Dallas-Style” Attack
Authorities say Gregori meticulously planned the attack and sought to recreate the deadly ambush-style assault used in Dallas in 2016, where a gunman killed five officers and injured nine others before being neutralized by police. Investigators believe Gregori had scouted potential locations, taken photographs, and discussed tactics for carrying out the attack.
Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle stated that the department remains vigilant against threats and commended federal and local law enforcement agencies for their quick response. “This arrest may have prevented a tragedy,” Markle said.
Community Reaction and Security Measures
News of the arrest has heightened concerns about targeted violence against law enforcement officers. Conservative lawmakers and police advocacy groups have pointed to the incident as an example of increasing hostility toward law enforcement, calling for stronger legal measures against threats to police.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott condemned the alleged plot, stating, “Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day, and any threat against them must be met with the full force of the law.” Abbott also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring police departments have the resources they need to handle potential threats.
The FBI has urged the public to report any suspicious activity and remains committed to preventing acts of domestic terrorism. Meanwhile, Gregori remains in custody as the case proceeds through the legal system.
