Family Loses Three Toddlers in Illinois House Fire

A devastating house fire in Carpentersville, Illinois, claimed the lives of three young toddlers on Sunday morning. The victims, 2-year-old twins Kayden and Jayden Corsello, and their 1-year-old brother Xander, were trapped inside their grandmother’s home on Kingston Circle when the fire erupted around 9:30 a.m. ABC7 Chicago

Their mother, Josephine Beauchane, recounted the harrowing experience of holding Kayden in his final moments:

“I felt his heart stop. I watched as he took his last breath, and had to sit there and listen as the doctors told me they wouldn’t be able to save him anymore.”

Neighbors witnessed the intensity of the blaze. Sam Olvera, a resident, described seeing flames engulfing the home and hearing cries that children were still inside.

Firefighters responded promptly, battling heavy flames and smoke. They managed to rescue two adults and one child from the burning building; however, despite their efforts, the three young boys could not be saved.

The boys’ grandmother made multiple attempts to rescue them, repeatedly entering the burning home but was ultimately overcome by the smoke. She is expected to survive, though the family now faces the profound loss of the children and the destruction of their home.

The Carpentersville community has rallied around the grieving family, establishing a growing memorial in honor of the toddlers, Xander, Jayden, and Kayden. Local organizations are mobilizing support to help the family rebuild their lives in the wake of this tragedy.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. The Carpentersville Fire Department is being assisted by the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Kane County Task Force in this effort. ABC7 Chicago
