Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has officially thrown his hat into the ring for New York City’s mayoral race, releasing a lengthy, infomercial-style video to announce his bid. This comes as current Mayor Eric Adams faces growing hostility from the radical left over his willingness to cooperate with President Trump’s efforts to deport illegal aliens.
“We can handle a crisis because we have.m We recently did it together through COVID,” said the governor who was criticized for killing elderly nursing home patients by housing COVID-ill people with old people.
He ironically spoke about “mentally ill” homeless people and “the random violence,” which plagued New York City when he was governor.
“Our city is in crisis. That’s why I am running to be Mayor of New York City. We need government to work. We need effective leadership,” Cuomo said on X.
Adams, who is up for reelection this November, has been under fire from Democrats ever since he dared to admit the truth—that illegal immigration is devastating New York City.
The Biden Justice Department even attempted to bring him down with federal bribery charges, only for the Trump administration to move to drop them. However, in a clear act of political weaponization, a Biden-appointed judge refused to dismiss the case.
Andrew Cuomo, who resigned in disgrace amid sexual harassment allegations and a disastrous COVID nursing home scandal, is now attempting a political comeback.
His bid for mayor signals further division within the Democrat Party, as the left fractures over how to handle the migrant crisis they themselves created. With New Yorkers suffering under crime, homelessness, and economic collapse, Cuomo’s return is unlikely to offer anything but more of the same failed policies that drove the city into chaos in the first place.
