In a recent conversation with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson on DailyWire+, Elon Musk, the entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX, refuted claims circulating in the news that he has been making substantial financial contributions, amounting to $45 million monthly, to aid Donald Trump’s political endeavors.
Musk, who has in the past supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, declared his support for Trump not long after an incident in July where Trump was injured at a rally. Musk has voiced his dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party and criticized what he perceives as excessive political correctness.
Contrary to what was reported by The Wall Street Journal, suggesting Musk’s intent to funnel millions into his America PAC to support Trump’s candidacy, Musk clarified in his interview and via a social media statement that these assertions were inaccurate.
“The narrative that I’m channeling $45 million monthly into Trump’s campaign coffers is false,” Musk clarified to Peterson, shedding light on his political engagement through a PAC aimed not at endorsing Trump’s previous campaign message but at fostering the ideals that underpin America’s greatness.
Musk seeks to distance his America PAC from the “Make America Great Again” slogan, preferring to aim for a future where America builds on its foundations to achieve even greater heights.
In a subsequent social media update, Musk labeled the media’s portrayal of his political donations as exaggerated and specified that his contributions to the America PAC, though existent, are more modest and are driven by the values of meritocracy and individual liberty, with a view that these values find more alignment within the Republican sphere, albeit not exclusively.
