Drag Queen Removed From ‘Best Contemporary Christian Album’ Consideration

Drag queen Flamy Grant’s album “Bible Belt Baby” has been removed from consideration for Best Contemporary Christian Album by The Recording Academy.

The album has been moved to the Pop category for the Grammy Awards.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, The Recording Academy said that the reason for the category shift is due to the swear words present in Grant’s music.

They said that moving Christian music with swear words in it to non-Christian categories has been “standard practice.”

Responding to the category shift, Grant, whose real name is Matthew Blake, said, “I was told that screening committees moving you happens, but it’s weird to get moved into pop.”

“There was nothing within the guide indicating why I would’ve been moved. The ultimate reason I’m coming out to talk about this is because we weren’t told what happened,” he stated. “What do future artists need to know if they want to follow this path?”

American Faith previously reported that Blake’s album reached the top charts on iTunes after Christian singer Sean Feucht criticized a collaboration between Blake and Christian artist Derek Webb.

Feucht took to Twitter, now called X, to condemn a collaboration between Grant and Dove Award-winning Christian artist Derek Webb.

“These are truly the last days,” Feucht wrote.
