Dr. Oz’s Leftist Views on Abortion, Guns Exposed

The Philadelphia Inquirer outlined how the television doctor-turned Republican candidate has touted a number of non-Republican compliant beliefs.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Pennsylvania’s Philadelphia Inquirer published a report Tuesday about Dr. Mehmet Oz’s previous political positions.
  • According to Breitbart News, the outlet showed how the TV-famous Dr. Oz has conflicted with republicans in his comments on abortion and gun ownership.
  • The outlet reported that Oz now identifies as pro-life, but told the National Review of Medicine in 2008 that he didn’t believe in putting “obstacles” in the way of those attempting to terminate the life of their unborn.
  • During the course of his show, Oz has also promoted guests who presented a positive and idealistic view of so-called “red flag” gun control laws in 2019.
  • The doctor also advocated for restrictive federal gun laws pushing states to tighten their individual laws regarding guns.
QUOTES FROM OZ:
  • “I’m not socially conservative. I don’t believe that we should be intruding into the private lives of homosexuals and we should not be creating obstacles during the difficult time that women have when trying to terminate a pregnancy,” Oz said in 2008.
  • “I believe we should make it as easy as possible for women to carry a child to term and give it up for adoption. Today’s climate makes it difficult for women to do what’s best for them and their fetus,” the celebrity doctor went on to say.
  • In a column coauthored with Dr. Michael Roizen, Oz advocated for gun restrictions warning states that “lenient gun regulations” could be dangerous and lawmakers to ensure that Americans have “less access to guns (that aren’t designed for hunting).”
