- That Oxford study, now published in The Lancet, also showed that participants who were given budesonide inhalers had a “quicker resolution of fever, symptoms and fewer persistent symptoms after 28 days” and that early administration of the treatment “reduced the likelihood of needing urgent medical care and reduced time to recovery following early COVID-19 infection.”

- Australia’s ‘National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce’ recommends “using inhaled corticosteroids (budesonide or ciclesonide) within 14 days of symptom onset in adults with COVID-19 who do not require oxygen and who have one or more risk factors for disease progression.”
- “Five trials provide evidence for inhaled corticosteroids in the treatment of COVID-19, three comparing ciclesonide with standard care, and two comparing budesonide with standard care or placebo,” the government document reads. “Results are primarily based on the PRINCIPLE trial [562] in which adults were treated with inhaled budesonide (by breath-actuated inhaler) 800 μg twice daily for up to 14 days.”
