Dr. Bartlett Testifies Budesonide Would Have Caused ‘90% Decrease in Hospitalizations’ from COVID: Texas Senate Hearing (Video)

Doctor’s claims validated by Oxford University.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Dr. Richard Bartlett, formerly appointed to then-Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s Health Disparities Task Force, explained during a Texas Senate hearing on Monday how the corticosteroid budesonide would have prevented 90% of COVID-19 pandemic hospitalizations.
  • “I was told there was nothing we can do for our [COVID] patients,” said Dr. Bartlett before explaining to the panel how he discovered that inhaled budesonide is a highly effective strategy for treating coronavirus symptoms.
  • Bartlett revealed how two randomized, controlled trials performed by Oxford University concluded that 90% of COVID hospitalizations would have been prevented with early use of budesonide.
  • “Can you imagine if 90% of the people that were in the hospital wouldn’t have been there in the first place?” Dr. Bartlett asked the Senate.
  • The study the doctor referred to, supported by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), found that “inhaled budesonide reduced the relative risk of requiring urgent care or hospitalisation by 90% in the 28-day study period.”
  • That Oxford study, now published in The Lancet, also showed that participants who were given budesonide inhalers had a “quicker resolution of fever, symptoms and fewer persistent symptoms after 28 days” and that early administration of the treatment “reduced the likelihood of needing urgent medical care and reduced time to recovery following early COVID-19 infection.”

INHALED BUDESONIDE RECOMMENDED BY AUSTRALIAN GOV’T:
  • Australia’s ‘National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce’ recommends “using inhaled corticosteroids (budesonide or ciclesonide) within 14 days of symptom onset in adults with COVID-19 who do not require oxygen and who have one or more risk factors for disease progression.”
  • “Five trials provide evidence for inhaled corticosteroids in the treatment of COVID-19, three comparing ciclesonide with standard care, and two comparing budesonide with standard care or placebo,” the government document reads. “Results are primarily based on the PRINCIPLE trial [562] in which adults were treated with inhaled budesonide (by breath-actuated inhaler) 800 μg twice daily for up to 14 days.”

BACKGROUND:
  • Dr. Richard Bartlett is a veteran primary care and emergency room doctor with over 28 years of medical practice experience.
  • American Faith has reported how one COVID patient, Daniel, who was gasping for air and hooked up to breathing tubes, experienced a stunning recovery after receiving Dr. Bartlett’s budesonide treatment.
  • We’ve also reported how another patient, Mary, was told she was going to die from COVID but made a full recovery after Bartlett’s treatment.
