Doritos Fires Transgender Influencer

Doritos Spain has fired transgender, biological male Iván González Ranedo, who now goes by Samantha Hudson, who originally appeared in an ad for the brand.

Ranedo appeared in a “Crunch Talk” promo for Doritos Spain, where he said, according to a translation, “Being perfect is not easy, but you end up getting used to it.”

Following the video, social media users resurfaced Ranedo’s previous tweets. Some have since accused Ranedo of being a pedophile.

According to Newsweek, one post read, “I want to do thuggish things [to] a 12-year-old girl” and provided an example of a child sex crime.

Another tweet read, “In the middle of the street in Mallorca in panties and screaming that I’m a nymphomaniac in front of a super beautiful 8-year-old girl.”

Ranedo also said he supports the “annihilation” of the nuclear family.

“I advocate for the destruction and for the annihilation of the traditional family,” he said.

Doritos Spain told Rolling Stone that the brand terminated its affiliation with the transgender activist after learning about the tweets.

“We have ended the relationship and stopped all related campaign activity due to the comments,” a spokesperson said. “We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind.”

Some have compared Ranedo’s appearance with Doritos Spain to Bud Light’s partnership with Dylan Mulvaney.

American Faith reported that Bud Light sales decreased each month by 25% to 30% in 2023 following the Mulvaney partnership.

Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, is estimated to have lost over one billion dollars in sales after the brand became affiliated with Mulvaney.

According to company data, Anheuser-Busch’s organic revenue dropped $1.4 billion in North America last year.

“Revenue declined by 17.3% with sales-to-retailers (STRs) down by 12.1%, primarily due to the volume decline of Bud Light. Sales-to-wholesalers (STWs) declined by 16.1% as shipments lagged stronger depletions in December,” a report said of the company’s fourth quarter.
