Beer Sales at Lowest Level in 24 Years After Bud Light-Dylan Mulvaney Partnership

Beer sales plummeted throughout 2023 after Bud Light partnered with transgender, biological male Dylan Mulvaney.

The New York Post reported that Bud Light sales have decreased each month by 25% to 30%.

While other beer brands saw some consumption growth, the growth did not outweigh the consistent decline across the industry.

According to David Steinman, the vice president and executive editor of Beer Marketer’s Insights, “This year in particular [Anheuser-Busch] is driving the decline in the industry.”

Younger people also have different drinking habits, the Wall Street Journal noted, as they consume alcohol less than previous generations and prefer spirits to beer.

American Faith reported that Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, sold eight craft beer brands to “Tilray Brands,” a Canadian cannabis company, after the Bud Light boycott.

Tilray purchased Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Square Mile Cider Company, and Hiball Energy, according to Anheuser’s recent announcement.
