Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin launched a profanity-laced attack on President Donald Trump Friday after the president accused Minnesota officials of overseeing corrupt elections and reiterated his belief that he won the state in all three of his presidential runs.
In a video clip circulating online, Trump stated, “I feel that I won Minnesota, I think I won it all three times. … I won it all three times in my opinion, and it’s a corrupt state, a corrupt voting state.” He also called out state officials for failing to implement voter ID laws and criticized Democrat Governor Tim Walz as “incompetent.”
The comments triggered an immediate and furious response from Martin, who posted on social media, calling Trump a “lying piece of s—” and claimed he personally witnessed Trump lose Minnesota in every election. Martin has served as chair of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and now leads the national DNC.
Martin’s outburst comes amid mounting scrutiny over election integrity in Minnesota. A state election judge was recently charged for allowing unregistered individuals to vote in the 2024 election. In a separate case, a DFL campaign volunteer was convicted for lying to a grand jury during a voter fraud investigation. Prosecutors proved the volunteer submitted absentee ballots on behalf of individuals who had not authorized him to do so.
Further complicating matters, Democrat leaders in Minnesota are facing growing pressure over allegations of widespread fraud linked to the state’s Somali community. The claims have sparked national concern and prompted calls for tougher voter security measures. Trump pointed to questionable financial activity in Somali-dominated districts, claiming, “It looks like the number could be $19 billion stolen,” and questioned how recent immigrants with no financial background were quickly driving luxury vehicles.
The war of words between Trump and Martin highlights the deepening divide over election integrity and voter fraud concerns, particularly in key battleground states like Minnesota. As President Trump continues to challenge the legitimacy of results in Democrat-run states, DNC leadership appears increasingly defensive—and unfiltered—in their response.
