DHS Secretary Mayorkas ‘Needs to Go’: Homeland Security Chairman

Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) told Maria Bartiromo of Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “needs to go.”

“He’s derelict in his duty. He’s broken the laws of the United States that have passed Congress. He’s lied to Congress. This guy needs to go, and I’ve got to convince 8 Republicans–I think we can do that–that’s what we’re working on right now,” the GOP Chairman said.

“We’re going to have about three or four hearings in January, and then we’re going to mark up the impeachment articles that have been written,” he added. “There are probably about four or five different members who’ve brought impeachment articles, really rushing the thing to the floor without a due process.”

“And that’s why I think many of those eight voted no. And I have spoken to all eight. Most of them just want a due process to happen. And we have been doing that now for several months. That investigation wraps up this month, and then we will do a proceeding in January.”

In November, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) brought a resolution to impeach Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Her resolution calls for his impeachment due to “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

“Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in and Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the laws of the United States,” the resolution reads.

“In his willful admittance of border crossers, terrorists, human traffickers, drugs, and other contraband,” the resolution adds. “Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas has failed to maintain operational control of the border, thereby violating the Secure Fence Act of 2006.”
