DeSantis, Newsom to Debate on Fox News

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom have agreed to debate.

The debate will be televised and moderated by Fox News host Sean Hannity on November 30.

Hannity said he is “looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issues and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American.”

The debate comes as DeSantis is seeking to position himself as a challenger to Donald Trump, who dominates GOP primary polls.

Biden advisors view the debate as Newsom’s means of establishing himself as a 2024 Democratic candidate, although the California governor appears to support Biden’s reelection.

“It’s disrespectful,” an adviser to Harris said. “Joe Biden is running with Kamala Harris. That’s the Democratic ticket.”

Reporting from The Hill:

DeSantis will participate in the second GOP primary debate Wednesday, an event airing on Fox Business Network that Trump plans to skip.

Trump did not show up to the first GOP primary debate last month, citing his large lead and what he says is a “hostile” relationship with Fox.

The former president has repeatedly ridiculed Fox News and its corporate ownership for what he says is an effort to boost DeSantis and stop him from reclaiming the White House.
