Democrats Urging Wyomingites To Vote for RINO Liz Cheney

Democratic lawmakers are calling on voters to support Cheney in the Wyoming Republican primary.

QUICK FACTS:
  • GOP Rep. Liz Cheney has faced much scrutiny from her own party after her participation in the January 6th committee and outspoken disapproval of former President Donald Trump, but is now gaining support from the other side.
  • Democratic Reps. Dean Phillips of Minnesota and Tom Malinowski of New Jersey are urging people to vote for Cheney in the upcoming primaries.
  • “Please consider temporarily switching parties and voting for Liz Cheney on or by August 16th,” Phillips said in a video.
  • Malinowski is asking Democrats in Wyoming to place “country over party… by registering to vote for her in the Republican primary.”
DEMOCRAT DEAN PHILLIPS ON SUPPORTING LIZ CHENEY IN THE MIDTERMS:

“You might be a little surprised that I’d be supporting Liz Cheney in her bid to continue representing Wyoming in the U.S. House, but principle must always come before politics, and nobody has shown more honor, integrity, and courage than she,” said Phillips.

BACKGROUND:
  • Cheney, who is at risk of losing the primary for her House seat, said in a recent speech that Republicans “cannot both be loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution.”
  • The congresswoman has gone as far as to urge both sides to vote for her in the August 16 primary.
  • While Wyoming overwhelmingly votes Republican, Democrats have received mail from Cheney’s campaign with instructions on how to change their party affiliation.
