Democrats have shared a new “choose your fighter” promotional video featuring female representatives.
TikTok personality Sulhee Jessica Woo released a video with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Lauren Underwood (D-IL), Katherine Clark (D-MA), Judy Chu (D-CA), Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), and Susie Lee (D-NV), where the members of Congress imitate the postures of video game character selections.
Woo’s “stats” included “bento box queen,” “mommy of the century,” and “sleep deprived.”
Ocasio-Cortez was next in the video and featured: “New York’s 14th Congressional District,” youngest women + Latina to be elected to the House,” and “Trekkie.”
Underwood was described as the “youngest black woman ever elected to Congress,” “cofounded the black maternal office,” and “hates balloons,” while Clark was described as “not into hair dye.”
Chu’s “stats” read as follows: “California’s 28th congressional district,” “first Chinese American woman elected to Congress,” and “too sweet.” Crockett appeared next and was described as “Texas’s 30th congressional district,” public defender + attorney,” and “not a morning person.”
Susie’s stats included having “2 sprained fingers.”
The video follows Democrats sharing nearly identical speeches ahead of President Donald Trump’s Tuesday address to Congress. There were only minor differences in phrasing across the twenty-two videos.
“Since Day One of Donald Trump’s Presidency, prices are up, not down,” the senators said. “Inflation is getting worse, not better.”
“He’s pardoned violent criminals who have savagely beaten police officers on January 6th,” the videos add, going on to condemn Trump for “letting Elon Musk take a chainsaw to government programs.”
Republicans condemned the scripted content, with Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) saying, “It’s almost like someone’s telling Democrats what to say.”
