Democratic Donors Criticize Kamala Harris Over $1.5 Billion Campaign Spending

Vice President Kamala Harris is facing backlash from Democratic donors after her campaign and party reportedly spent nearly $1.5 billion during her unsuccessful presidential run. Lindy Li, a Democratic National Committee (DNC) National Finance Committee member, expressed disappointment over Harris’ lack of accountability during a recent donor call.

“She actually held two calls, one for her top donors and one for grassroots,” Li said on NewsNation Now. “I was speaking and texting with fellow attendees in the call, and we were amazed by how self-congratulatory the tone was.”

Harris launched her campaign on July 21 but failed to secure a win in key battleground states. Li noted that despite the massive expenditures and the loss of seven swing states, there was no acknowledgment of shortcomings or lessons learned.

“I’m just, frankly, stunned that there was no sort of post-mortem or an analysis of how we can do better,” Li said. “It was really just patting each other on the back, congratulating each other on I’m not sure what. And saying, ‘We’ll see you for Christmas.’”

Reports from Axios revealed that the DNC has since fired hundreds of employees, with concerns growing over potential millions of dollars in debt incurred during Harris’ campaign. Democratic megadonor John Morgan criticized the spending as a failure of leadership.

“A lot of people got rich on the back of donors trying to stop Trump. And I think this disqualifies her forever,” Morgan said. “If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run America.”

However, Harris campaign Chief Financial Officer Patrick Stauffer denied claims of financial mismanagement, telling Bloomberg, “As of Election Day, there were no outstanding debts or bills overdue.”

The fallout over Harris’ campaign spending has fueled internal Democratic concerns about leadership and financial stewardship heading into future election cycles.
