Democrat Gretchen Whitmer Apologizes for Mocking Christians in Recent Video

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer faced backlash after a social media video showed her feeding a kneeling liberal podcaster Doritos, while wearing a Harris-Walz campaign hat. Critics, particularly among Christian groups, found the imagery offensive, arguing it mocked the sacred rite of Holy Communion.

Paul A. Long, President of the Michigan Catholic Conference, expressed the concerns of religious leaders, stating the video was “an all-too-familiar example of an elected official mocking religious persons and their practices.”

The video, part of a viral TikTok trend, featured the song “Dilemma” playing as Whitmer fed the podcaster in a manner critics compared to the Eucharist.

Former Trump advisor Tim Murtaugh voiced his disapproval, claiming Whitmer’s actions showed disrespect towards Catholics.

In response to the controversy, Governor Whitmer apologized, clarifying her intention was to highlight the CHIPS and Science Act, not to ridicule religious practices.

“I would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith,” she emphasized, reaffirming her respect for religious beliefs.
