Democrat Andrew Yang Endorses Dean Phillips for President, Criticizes President Biden

2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang endorsed United States Rep. Dean Phillips for the 2024 presidential race last week.

“In this time of need, only one person decided to place his country above his professional aspirations, put his conviction above the chattering class, and that is the man I am proud to endorse tonight as the next president of the United States, three-term congressman from Minnesota Dean Phillips,” Yang said at a campaign event.

Yang said in 2021 that he was “breaking up” with the Democratic Party and registering as an independent.

“If you want to run for president, your time is right now. In this time of need, only one person decided to place his country above his professional aspirations,” Yang said during an event with Phillips at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon. “That is the man I am proud to endorse tonight as the next President of the United States … Dean Phillips.”

Yang also criticized President Joe Biden’s age, noting that campaigning can be a lot of work and it would be tough to “reinvent grandpa” in 2024.

“He is a substantial, accomplished president. I campaigned for him in 2020. I endorsed him,” Yang said of Biden. “He’s a good man, a true public servant and a great American. He was the right candidate four years ago. He is not the right candidate for 2024.”
