Dem Senator Makes Literal ‘Call to Arms’ to Abortion Supporters (Video)

The senator cited “government overreach.”

QUICK FACTS:
  • Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) has received pushback for her “call to arms” to abortion supporters from the floor of the Senate.
  • After issuing a “literal” call to arms for the pro-choice to stand up against the lack of federal support for abortion, conservatives spoke out on Twitter saying the senator went too far.
  • One user called the comments “violent political rhetoric” while another asked, “Literally? What is her chosen weapon?”
  • “So what exactly does crazy @maziehirono mean when she says this is “literally a call to arms in our country” because it sure sounds like she’s calling for violence against pro-life citizens and politicians,” said former congressional candidate Robby Starbuck.
  • First Liberty Institute lawyer Jeremy Dys called out politicians like Hirono and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) who attack pregnancy centers and appear to be “upset at their very existence” saying “I think it’s all part of the same political intimidation.”
  • The attorney went on to say, “You’re welcome to disagree with these pro-life reproductive health facilities, but state law and federal law protects their right to exist and to operate under the Constitution of the United States.”
THE SENATOR’S COMMENTS:
  • The senator started her comments by saying, “Talk about government overreach. When I hear my colleagues talking about how it should be states’ rights or government should not be telling us what to do. The word hypocrites, it doesn’t even go far enough to call them out on what they’re doing.”
  • “This is an outright attack on women in this country, that is how I see it. That is how more and more women and those who support our right to make decisions about our own bodies, that is how we see it,” the Democrat went on. “And why? Because that’s what’s happening. Clearly, this is literally a call to arms in our country. I yield the floor.”
BACKGROUND:
  • Hirono’s comments come on the heels of Democratic Congressman Tim Ryan declaring “We’ve gotta kill and confront that movement,” in reference to “MAGA Republicans.”
  • Additionally, Hillary Clinton took aim at former President Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters during a recent interview about 9/11, comparing them to Al Qaeda.
