DEFUND TO REFUND: De Blasio to Spend $105M on New NYPD Precinct After Spike in Violent Crime, Murder

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio reversed course this week on his efforts to defund the NYPD, announcing $105 million for a new precinct after a spike in violent crime and homicides across the five boroughs.

“The city will spend $105 million to build a new NYPD precinct in Southeast Queens, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday — reversing a decision to eliminate the project last year when he was under pressure to cut the police budget,” reports Politico.
