Actor John Cusack ignited controversy on X by declaring, “Iran will surely rush to get a nuclear weapon — and they should get one,” arguing it’s “the only way to deter US and Israel from bombing every country in Middle East.” He made the post days after President Trump’s decisive strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which Trump hailed as “a spectacular military success.”
Cusack also attacked the U.S.–Israel alliance, stating, “Blind allegiance for Israel is alliance to a genocidal regeme… it’s a nation state – run [by] a murderous gangster.” He further accused Israel of bombing Lebanon and slammed Democrats for ignoring alleged genocide: “The fact that so many in the dem party will not speak out … Should haunt them for the rest of their lives.”
Cusack’s rhetoric undermines American foreign policy and the safety of U.S. allies. He promotes empowering Iran’s regime, arguably rewarding their aggression and destabilizing an already volatile region.
