NewsNation host Chris Cuomo expressed his outrage on Tuesday over the left-wing reaction to the assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump, where he was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler Township, Pennsylvania. Cuomo criticized the dismissive response from some on the left, who suggested that the injury was the result of glass fragments from a teleprompter, not a bullet.
On “The Chris Cuomo Project,” he expressed disgust over how some left-wing individuals downplayed the severity of the incident, saying, “What I found completely appalling and outrageous was how unimpressed lefties were by Trump getting shot in the head,” referring to those who minimized the impact of the bullet. Cuomo emphasized how absurd it was to dismiss the injury and likened it to the kind of reaction that would not have been tolerated if it had been Vice President Kamala Harris who had been shot.
Cuomo contended that the left’s failure to appropriately respond to the incident led to Harris’ political loss in the election. “This is why you lost the election,” he declared, adding, “You are out of touch… you lost the plot about how people feel in the majority.” He also criticized the theory that the assassination attempt was exaggerated or staged, suggesting that such views came from those who “wished the guy had died.”
The shooting, which led to one death and two injuries at the rally, sparked conspiracy theories, including doubts about the nature of the injury and whether the event was intentionally staged. Cuomo also addressed a second assassination attempt in September when Trump was not injured.
Cuomo clarified that although he often critiques Trump, he did not condone any violence against him, offering condolences after the second incident. “He doesn’t deserve this,” Cuomo stated, condemning the threat against the president-elect.
