Conservatives made their voices heard in deep-blue California on Sunday morning, marching through West Hollywood and gathering for a rally in Beverly Hills as part of the “American Restoration Tour,” organized by Brandon Straka’s #WalkAway campaign. The movement encourages voters to leave the increasingly radical Democratic Party ahead of the 2028 midterm elections.
The march began at 1 p.m. at North Robertson and Santa Monica boulevards, with patriotic demonstrators waving American flags, Trump banners, and messages supporting traditional conservative values. A handful of counter-protesters attempted to disrupt the peaceful march but largely dispersed once the group reached Beverly Gardens Park in Beverly Hills for a rally.
Speakers at the event included former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, former California Senate candidate Joe Lisuzzo, and several conservative entertainers and commentators. Despite the predictable opposition, several dozen conservatives stood strong, determined to share their message of hope, freedom, and political choice.
While at least one arrest was reported, the event remained largely peaceful.
Predictably, West Hollywood city officials rushed to distance themselves from the march, criticizing it for not aligning with their “core values.” The city claimed to respect free speech but simultaneously denounced what it called “divisive language” — a clear swipe at the conservative gathering.
Straka and supporters fired back on social media, mocking the city’s statement and emphasizing their commitment to free expression and true diversity of thought.
Local media noted that the event sparked concern among West Hollywood’s liberal establishment, once again highlighting the city’s intolerance toward political views outside the far-left mainstream.
