Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) demanded that New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani lose his citizenship after he supported terrorist entities.
In his letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Ogles requested that an investigation be opened into Mamdani, as he “may have procured U.S. citizenship through willful misrepresentation or concealment of material support for terrorism.” Such an investigation will determine if he “should be subject to denaturalization proceedings.”
Mamdani became a U.S. citizen in 2018.
According to reports, Mamdani has previously “expressed open solidarity with individuals convicted of terrorism-related offenses prior to becoming a U.S. citizen,” Ogles wrote, adding, “If an individual publicly glorifies a group convicted of financing terrorism, it is entirely appropriate for federal authorities to inquire whether that individual engaged in non-public forms of support such as organizational affiliation, fundraising, or advocacy-that would have required disclosure on Form N-400 or during a naturalization interview.”
Mamdani has also refused to condemn the chant, “Globalize the intifada.”
“While political speech in isolation is not dispositive, in light of earlier expressions of admiration for individuals convicted of supporting terrorism, a troubling pattern emerges that warrants formal scrutiny,” Ogles explained.
Because the naturalization process depends on “good-faith disclosure” of any affiliation with entities threatening the United States, the letter added, possible concealment of associations “may constitute a material misrepresentation sufficient to support denaturalization under federal law.”
After Mamdani won the Democratic mayoral primary, President Donald Trump commented,
“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.”
Trump added that the victory marked a “big moment in the History of our Country!”
Mamdani has proposed several radical ideas, including a $65 million taxpayer-funded plan to expand sex change drugs and surgeries across the city and strengthening sanctuary city policies.
