CNN fell behind Newsmax for a fourth place prime time viewership rating.
The network carried an average audience of 335,000 on Friday, May 12.
CNN’s fall followed the network’s higher ratings while it hosted Trump’s town hall.
During the town hall, CNN’s viewership was about five times higher than its usual for the 8 p.m. time slot.

The former president was quick to note the boost he gave CNN. “People are criticizing CNN for giving me a Forum to tell the TRUTH. I believe it was a very smart thing that they did, with Sky High Ratings that they haven’t seen in a very long time,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “It was by far the biggest Show of the night, the week, and the month!”
