The House Oversight Committee’s subcommittee moved to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as several others connected to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
The motion, brought by Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), directs Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) to issue subpoenas demanding the individuals testify before Congress.
“I have a motion to subpoena the following individuals to expand the full committees investigation into Miss Maxwell – and the list reads as follows,” Perry said, “William Jefferson Clinton, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, James Brian Comey, Loretta Elizabeth Lynch, Eric Hampton Holder, Jr., Merrick Brian Garland, Robert Swan Mueller III, William Pelham Barr, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions the third, and Alberto Gonzales. That’s the full list, Mr. Chairman. And that’s the motion.”
Following the motion, which passed by a voice vote, Perry told reporters, “I just think it’s important that the American people know what’s occurred.”
The House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement also voted to subpoena the Justice Department to release the Epstein files.
A committee aide told Fox News that the subpoenas will be issued “in the near future.”
Chairman Comer issued a subpoena to Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell on Wednesday. “While the Justice Department undertakes efforts to uncover and publicly disclose additional information related to your and Mr. Epstein’s cases, it is imperative that Congress conduct oversight of the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of you and Mr. Epstein,” Comer wrote to Maxwell. “In particular, the Committee seeks your testimony to inform the consideration of potential legislative solutions to improve federal efforts to combat sex trafficking and reform the use of non-prosecution agreements and/or plea agreements in sex-crime investigations.”
