Climate Activist Jeff Bezos’ Yacht Produces 7,000 Tons of Carbon Emissions Every Year

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is facing backlash after his yacht reportedly produces thousands of tons of carbon emissions each year, despite his claims to be a supporter of climate change.

The New York Post recently reported that Bezos 417-foot yacht named “Koru” produces around 7,000 tons of gases on a yearly basis.

Earlier this year, Forbes reported that Bezos’ “Earth Fund” mission put $34.5 million toward reporting on climate and sustainable food sources.

In 2020, Bezos promised to give $10 billion over the next ten years to “fight” climate change.

His yacht allegedly produces 447 times the entire annual carbon footprint of the average American citizen.

“Because they are so rich and so powerful, they feel like they are entitled to travel in carbon-producing superyachts, whereas you and I should drive less, should eat less meat,” Indiana anthropology PhD student Beatriz Barros, who researched the billionaires yacht emissions, said.

Barros also noted how the ship releases greenhouse gases into the environment when using its amenities such as pools and theaters.

“I don’t see how, how in any way this can be considered to be environmentally friendly,” she continued.
