Christian University Fires Two Employees Over Pronouns in Work Emails

Two employees at a Christian university in New York have been fired after using their pronouns in work emails.

Residence hall directors Raegan Zelaya and Shua Wilmot were both asked by administrators at Houghton University to remove pronouns from their email signatures, claiming the two violated the school’s policy.

Zelaya and Wilmot refused to remove the signatures, saying their names have caused them to be “misgendered” in the past.

From Fox News:

University spokesman Michael Blankenship told Fox News Digital the school has "never terminated an employment relationship based solely on the use of pronouns in staff email signatures."

"Over the past years, we’ve required anything extraneous be removed from email signatures, including Scripture quotes," he added. "Houghton remains steadfastly committed to offering the Christian education that our students are promised."
