Christian Film Studio Debuts with Star-Studded ‘Camp Hideout’ (Watch Trailer)

Called Higher Studios,’ self-proclaimed as the “world’s first Christian fan-owned movie studio,” is set to release its inaugural film, “Camp Hideout,” today.

The family-oriented comedy spotlights well-regarded names in the film industry including Christopher Lloyd, Corbin Bleu, and Amanda Leighton, drawing considerable attention.

Camp Hideout chronicles the journey of Noah, a young man facing challenges, who finds solace at a Christian summer camp, The Western Journal details.

This movie joins a recent wave of faith-based films that have been making their mark in Hollywood, with titles like “Sound of Freedom” and “Journey to Bethlehem” shining through.

On the topic of how such high-profile actors were drawn to the project, CEO Jason Brown shared, “Christopher Lloyd thought it was a great script, and wanted to be a part of it and played such a great character. Corbin did, too, as well as Amanda Leighton.”

He added, “I think it’s a testament to the script and the storytelling that those actors wanted to be a part of it.”

Established in 2019, Called Higher Studios emerged with a clear vision: “to produce quality faith-based content that spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

The studio’s approach is in line with Christ’s directive as per Mark 16:15: “go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation,” Western Journal notes.

Financing its productions through a crowdfunding strategy akin to that of Angel Studios, Called Higher has galvanized support from thousands aligned with their mission.

Speaking on the process behind producing Camp Hideout, Brown reflected on the pandemic’s impact, remarking, “I always joke and say we had a three-year plan and COVID hit and we just had to hit pause.”

“So we basically paused life for a year and then kind of got back on track. Movies inherently take a long time to put together,” he continued. “But this one worked out really well.”

Produced under the aegis of Phillip Glasser, known for his work in “An American Tail” and “The Illusionist,” this movie is seen as a beacon of hope for those who believe that content can be both entertaining and values-driven.

The mission of Called Higher Studios is “to produce quality faith-based content that spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ and also transcends storytelling,” according to the group’s website.

“We believe that there is POWER in numbers and that we can build something truly amazing and POWERFUL for the Christian community. Simply put…WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD THROUGH CONTENT but we can’t do it alone.”
