Chinese President Xi Jinping called for the creation of a Palestinian during the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF).
“China and Arab states should continue to firmly support each other, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, advocate mutual learning among civilizations, strengthen solidarity and coordination, forge closer bonds in bilateral relations, and make the forum even more successful, so as to work for steady and sustained progress in building the China-Arab community with a shared future,” a press release from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
The release added that Arab states “held that China is an important strategic partner” and affirmed that China has “always firmly supported the just cause of the Arab people.”
Xi said during his speech that the “friendship” between China and Arab nations is “deeply rooted in our friendly exchanges along the ancient Silk Road, in our joint struggles for national liberation, and in our win-win cooperation in promoting national development.”
“Peace, truth, integrity, and inclusiveness are the common pursuit of Chinese and Arab peoples,” he added.
Xi called for a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
“War should not continue indefinitely. Justice should not be absent forever. Commitment to the two-state solution should not be wavered at will,” he said, noting that China “firmly supports the establishment of an independent State of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
He then promised to provide $3 million to a UN agency linked to Hamas, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as well as $14 million for humanitarian aid and another $70 million for further humanitarian aid in a post-conflict period.
The second China-Arab States Summit will take place in 2026.
