Chinese Nationals Apprehended in Florida Keys

Seventeen Chinese nationals were arrested in the Florida Keys after entering the United States illegally.

Rep. Carlos A. Giménez (R) said in a video explaining the event, “As you know that I serve on the House Armed Services Committee but also on the House Select Committee on the competition between the United States and the Communist Chinese Party. And, recently we saw where 17 Chinese Nationals were apprehended in the Florida Keys.”

“Very concerning for me. I mean, I have gotten indication, have gotten information that the Communist Chinese party is getting more and more influence in our hemisphere, especially around South Florida,” he continued. “We know that they’ve got activities going on in Cuba. They also see that they’re doing a lot of infrastructure work also in the Bahamas.”

He noted that the situation concerned him, asking, “Why were they trying to sneak into the country? What was their purpose? Again, I think it’s the first time that we’ve actually apprehended Chinese Nationals in our part of the country.”

More than 24,000 Chinese illegal immigrants have been apprehended at the Southwest border during fiscal year 2023, American Faith reported.

The number is a 1,115% increase from last year when only 1,987 Chinese nationals were apprehended.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) believes the thousands of Chinese migrants may present a security threat, as those loyal to the CCP are likely exploiting the weakness of America’s borders and compromising national security.

“The counterintelligence and economic espionage efforts emanating from the government of China and the Chinese Communist Party are a grave threat to the economic well-being and democratic values of the United States,” a statement from the FBI’s website reads.
