Concealed Carry Stops Chicago Gunman Cold

A concealed carry permit holder in Harvey, Illinois, ended a potential mass shooting when he fatally shot one of two armed attackers who opened fire at a house party Saturday evening.

The incident unfolded shortly after 8 p.m. at a residence near the corner of 145th and Des Plaines. According to CBS News, two suspects approached the home and began firing at partygoers, striking multiple individuals. ABC 7 reported that five people were injured, while CBS stated the number as six. Among the wounded was a four-year-old boy, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

During the chaos, an individual legally armed with a concealed carry permit drew his weapon and returned fire. He killed one of the attackers on the spot and wounded the second, bringing the shooting to a halt before more lives were lost.

Police arrived to find the scene secured by the quick response of the concealed carrier. The wounded suspect was taken into custody and is being treated under police supervision. Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects.

In a disturbing development, law enforcement officials are investigating a potential link between the party shooting and a separate fatal incident the following morning. Around 5 a.m. Sunday, 28-year-old Jeremiah R. Adtutubofah was found shot and killed, and police are probing whether it was a retaliatory act connected to Saturday night’s violence.

The incident underscores the ongoing concerns about public safety in and around Chicago, where gun violence continues to impact communities. It also draws renewed attention to the role of armed citizens who intervene to stop active threats.
