Cheryl Hines Defends RFK Jr. in Tense ‘The View’ Clash Over His Health Record

Actress Cheryl Hines squared off with the co‑hosts of The View while defending her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., over criticism of his qualifications and public health stances. The debate turned heated as co‑hosts pushed her on claims of misinformation and asked whether her husband is “the least qualified” to hold his post.

During the segment, co‑host Sunny Hostin repeatedly challenged Kennedy’s authority to lead HHS, citing his lack of medical credentials and alleging that he’s spread confusion on critical health topics. She argued, “He has also spread a lot of misinformation … a lot of confusion … that’s dangerous,” while labeling him “the least qualified” in HHS history.

Hines pushed back, noting that many past HHS secretaries lacked medical degrees, and she spotlighted her husband’s long career in environmental law and litigating against corporations over toxins. She also attempted to shift the focus to broader concerns about institutional messaging during COVID and other public health controversies.

One sharp exchange centered on Kennedy’s past claims connecting circumcision to autism. Hostin accused him directly: “He’s connecting circumcisions to autism!” Hines interrupted: “May I finish?” Later, when co‑hosts pressed on vaccine skepticism, Hines affirmed she supports vaccination but contended that questions of safety and transparency deserve public discussion.

While the discussion remained tense, Hines emphasized she isn’t a political operative and that her engagement in public discourse is often reactive to attacks on her husband. She called on fair debate and pointed to her husband’s MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) initiative—especially reforms in food safety and chemical exposure—as a less contested area of agreement.
