Justin Timberlake has pleaded guilty to a DWI charge and was sentenced to community service.
The incident highlights the legal consequences celebrities face, similar to the general public, when involved in serious offenses like driving under the influence.
“I should’ve had better judgment,” Timberlake told the judge. “I understand the seriousness of this.”
Community service is a common penalty for first-time offenders, aimed at rehabilitation and giving back to the community.
Timberlake later told reporters that those who even have “one drink” should not get behind the wheel of a car.
“I try to hold myself to a very high standard, and this was not that,” Timberlake said after the hearing.
“Even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. There’s so many alternatives. “Call a friend. Take an Uber. There’s many travel apps. Still, take a taxi. This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have.”
