Give Us Your Wealthy, Your Un-Woke, Your Capitalists: FL Mayor Courts NYC Businesses

Mayor Scott Singer of Boca Raton is seizing on New York’s leftward lurch to position his city as the next capitalist haven. Singer told The Post, “New York is not going to be the capital of capitalism anymore,” and he’s already pitched corporate chiefs on relocating to his beach city. He noted, “We expect more inbound calls. We expect to have more people coming because of high taxes [in New York] — and we’re ready.”

Singer boasts that Boca Raton imposes no income or business taxes, unlike the radical proposals from New York’s Democratic socialist front-runner. Mamdani plans to raise income, business, and property taxes on wealthier—and primarily white—neighborhoods in his $10 billion “socialist utopia.” But Singer counters: “Raising taxes and freezing the rent is not going to solve the affordability crisis.”

The mayor says Boca is attracting businesses: “We are ready to show you a better quality of life.” Twenty-first century capitalists and young families flock to Florida, trading a capitalist haven over New York’s “sky‑high cost of living” and new bureaucracy. Singer quipped, “I’m a die‑hard Yankee fan — you won’t miss anything!”

He warned that socialism creates stagnation: “Socialism is a terrible idea that has failed everywhere it’s been implemented.” As New York embraces rent freezes and city‑run grocers, Boca offers beaches, parks, streamlined services—and freedom. As Singer puts it, “We are going to make lemons into lemonade,” proving that thriving under capitalism beats struggling under socialism.
