The Federal Court of Canada ruled that it is “unreasonable and unconstitutional” for the Canadian government to label plastic items “toxic.”
Justice Angela Furlanetto said in the ruling that the label is too broad.
Environmental Minister Steven Guilbeault issued a response to the ruling.
“Canadians have been loud and clear that they want action to keep plastic out of our environment, he said. “The science is clear: plastic pollution is everywhere in our environment, harming wildlife and their habitats.”

In a statement to The Post Millennial, former federal Agriculture and Agri-food Minister Gerry Ritz said, “It’s a major win for consumers. Major loss for Trudeau and crew. Processors, fast food and grocers should sue for tool up and now retool costs of this mess.”
