Ten days after President-elect Donald Trump’s unexpected victory, Lake County in northern California has only counted 30% of its votes, highlighting significant delays in the state’s election process.
According to The New York Times, only 8,532 votes have been tabulated in the contest between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in Lake County.
Harris currently holds a narrow 1.9% lead in the county, but with so few votes counted, the final outcome remains uncertain. Across California, many counties have reported less than 90% of their results, reflecting broader inefficiencies in the state’s election system.
Although the state has already been called for Harris due to its heavily Democratic lean, the slow reporting process has left several House races unresolved, drawing criticism over California’s inability to deliver timely election results. The ongoing delay raises questions about the state’s election infrastructure and its impact on voter confidence.
